Eat Your Fruits and Veggies!

We couldn’t think of a better month for ”National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month”! With gardens in full swing and farmers markets bursting with fresh color and flavor, take it from us, you definitely want to stop! A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check. Eating non-starchy vegetables and fruits like apples, pears, and green leafy vegetables may even promote weight loss. Plus, who doesn’t love a fruit basket! Now, if you don’t mind, we hear a veggie tray calling our name!

“We should all be eating fruits and vegetables as if our lives depend on it - because they do.” - Michael Greger -
